Ronald Javor has lived with, worked with, and advocated for homeless adults and children and for people with physical and social disabilities for many years. He has helped create and preserve decent, safe, affordable and accessible housing and other opportunities for these parents and children so they can enjoy better and more fulfilling lives. He also has been an advocate for tenants' rights for over 40 years.
Ron has written five children's books to date on these subjects and has written extensively through the years in various books and periodicals, including a bi-weekly Sacramento Bee column on renters' issues for 8 years and all or a portion of the following technical books and articles, among others: "The Legal Guide to Affordable Housing", published by the American Bar Association, "California Residential Landlord-Tenant Practice", published by California Continuing Education of the Bar; and "An Attorney's Guide to Key Issues and Governing Statutes", also published by California Continuing Education of the Bar. His awards and recognition include the National Government Service Award from Neighborworks American, the "Local Hero" Award from Bank of America, the Panther Advocacy Award from the California Reinvestment Commission, the Sacramento Housing Alliance Homeless Advocacy Award, and the 2015 Homeless Hero Award from the Grantland Johnson Foundation.
Sandra J. Hoover is a working artist residing in Northern California for the last thirty years. After graduating with honors and obtaining her BA in Fin Art from Californian State University of Sacramento, she went to work in both fine art and commercial art venues, accomplishing many public and private commissions for various cities, parks and museums in California. Her illustrations appear in Ron's children's books as well as other books and commercial publications ranging form political magazines and weekly newspapers to children's periodicals.
Laraine Hutcherson designs Ron's books. She is the author of several children's books, including "There's a Lump in My Bed", "Dinosaur Dreams", and "The Boy Detective and the Mystery of Adoption". Laraine is descended from a long line of librarians, teachers, and book lovers and lives in Sacramento, California.
